Three days after Pres. Trumps took another page from Netanyahu’s threats of military action regarding Iran’s legal nuclear program, both the Russian and China’s Navies sailed into and are present in Iranian waters.
As of this writing, five days after President Trump announced on Fox News that he sent a “letter” to Iran’s Ayatolla Ali Khamenei, regarding its nuclear program, it has not yet been delivered to nor seen by him.
Iran’s Ayatolla Khamenei and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi learned of this “Letter” via the media, then clearly stated they support dialogue and negotiations but refuse to entertain threats or demands.
Veterans For Peace, a forty year-old organization whose members know all too well the fallacies, lies, inhumanity and failure of both war and the nuclear weapon industrial complex. We understand that since the overthrow of the US/UK corporate backed Shah in 1979 by the people of Iran, it has been heavily propagandized as a rogue terrorist state run by fanatics.
As per U.S. General Wesley Clarke, the Neo-Con circle and Israel had argued whether the regime change of Iran should occur first or last of the Middle Eastern nations. In his memoirs he would mention their “Seven Countries in Five Years”. He states that Paul Wolfowitz was keen on invading Iran even if it found Iran was not pursuing a nuclear weapon. For the moment expect Israel and the U.S. to continue to ramp up urgently calling out Iran as the immediate threat to Israel, the U.S. and the world.
As the US and Israel cast their shadow onto Iran’s nuclear program, let’s recall that Israel’s leaders have already threatened to use it’s nuclear weapons and that the U.S. is leading the extremely costly and dangerous nuclear arms race. Israel and the U.S. are presently endangering all humankind.
Without democratic process or transparency we continue to spend trillions of our tax monies on the nuclear industry, against the will of a majority of citizens and violating U.S. and international laws.
The U.S. media is silent as diplomats in both parties have been ordered to not even cross the street to attend or observe the weeklong proceedings last week at the UN on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, signed by 94 nations and growing.
Hardliners in the USA encourage the hardliners within Iran. Iran is an ancient culture and people. It has great potential to be a truly robust and moral ally for peace in the region. As Peace and Planet News reported Iran’s President Pezeshkian was recently elected calling for increased dialogue and understanding with the West. In October Iranian Vice President Javad Zarif sent out a supportive video statement to the West for the same, countering the narrative of war, calling for genuine dialogue and to stop genocide.
Veterans For Peace supports such dialogue and the courageous, effective and hard work of diplomacy.
