David Rothauser began his career as an actor in Paris, France. He moved to New York City where he received a BA Degree in Theatre at Hunter College. After performing in theatre in NY, he earned a Masters Degree in film making from Boston University. His graduate thesis was about the world-famous Sacco-Vanzetti Case.

Since then, much of his work has been as a peace activist, writing, directing and performing in theatre and film. He co-produced and acted in the Blue Ribbon awarded film, A Good Example: Bertolt Brecht and HUAC at the American Film Festival in NY. His film, The Diary of Sacco and Vanzetti, was broadcast on Public tv in Boston in 2004 and ’05.

David’s film, Hibakusha, Our Life To Live, about survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, premiered at the United Nations in 2010. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon requested copies for the UN Disarmament Educational Department.

More recently David has written a novel, East Wind Rain, about the cover up of espionage activities prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and a stage play, Pole Dancing for Jesus, a hip-hop musical about the 2020 Presidential Election.

He is currently fundraising for a film about Smedley Butler, the highly decorated Major General who became a whistleblower for peace.
