And his fifth birthday behind bars.

July 3 was Julian Assange’s 52nd birthday, and around the world his supporters dropped banners, did light projections, and made videos demanding his freedom.

PPN editors Tarak Kauff and Ellen Davidson and other members of Veterans For Peace displayed a banner in New York City (Ellen’s photos are here). In River Edge, NJ, VFP members dropped the banner on an overpass on a busy highway.

Below is a statement from Dont Extradite Assange Campaign

July 3rd marked Julian’s 5th birthday in Belmarsh prison. Spent once again, arbitrarily detained and away from his loved ones.

Together, we have already been able to show the world that Julian is not alone – his rights are our rights and, for this special day we want to spread more messages of love and appreciation for the man who put his life on the line for our freedom!

However, the fight continues and now more than ever, we need to gather and organise. Julian’s freedom is hanging by a thread.

That is why we’ve put together these videos which we would love for you to share with your community and remind them how important their support is.
