Joy Metzler, 2nd Lt., USAF
VFP has been essential to my journey as a peacemaker. I was utterly lost and confused when I began my journey as a conscientious objector. I was alone and scared of the consequences, but VFP was there for me. VFP paid for an attorney to represent me through the c.o. hearing process and I had people genuinely interested in my progress every step of the way. Without their support, I dont know where I’d be today. Thank you to all of you. You give me hope and strength to keep going.
Larry Hebert, Sr. Airman USAF
I sincerely appreciate VFP and all its members for their support and community. It’s made a world of difference while I navigate the difficulty of separating from the Air Force. All throughout challenging our continued support for Israel’s genocide, I have found that VFP was very supportive every step of the way. I’ll continue to direct more fellow servicemembers to this organization and hopefully obtain our collective goal towards a more peaceful world without war.
Juan Bettancourt, Sr. Airman, USAF
The backing and encouragement provided by Veterans For Peace following my declaration as a conscientious objector has been crucial in my determination to confront hardship and persist in denouncing our government’s complicity in the Gaza genocide. If it weren’t for the invaluable community of Veterans For Peace, I would have felt adrift, bewildered, and without the understanding and support of anti-war veterans who share both my struggles and beliefs.
I owe an eternal debt to VFP for their unshakable backing during a period where I felt the most isolated and muzzled by my oath of enlistment.
Elik Elhanan, former IDF Special Forces, VFP member
As a member of the Israeli-Palestinian movement Combatants for Peace, we are deeply indebted to VFP for the support, encouragement and solidarity they offered us throughout the years. As a former IDF veteran I’m forever grateful to VFP for the inspiration and above all friendship that they showed me – the example of self-healing through doing good that this movement represents and practices was nothing short of life-saving in my own case, as I’m sure it has been for many. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to contribute as much as you can to sustain the wonderful organization of Veterans For Peace.
Thank you for being an active part of the movement for peace and justice and especially thank you for your year-end gift to Veterans For Peace.
